A very fine and fresh four margin mint example of this scarce trial printing that was prepared for distribution to postmasters for the announcement of the forthcoming issue.
The small plate of 12 impressions was made because the first 2d plate of the new type "with white lines" was not ready and specimens were required for distribution with the announcement of the forthcoming issue. There were no letters in the lower corners. Printings were in full deep blue.
Scarce and very fine.
